Meet The Team

Kay Bews, chief executive of Home-Start UK, was appointed OBE in the 2010 New Year’s honours.  The award was given for services to children and families.  Kay Bews has been involved with Home-Start since 1988.  On hearing of the award she said, “I was rather surprised and very honoured.  My work is just one part of the whole of Home-Start.  There are thousands of staff and volunteers across the country who are just as passionate as me about the effectiveness of Home-Start’s work and who can see, every day, the real difference we can make to families.  I’m delighted that this has come at a time when I can share it with everyone else involved in the charity, and hope they will all accept a little of the glory.”

Across the UK more than 15,000 Home-Start volunteers visit families at home each week, supporting parents in situations as diverse as isolation, bereavement, multiple births, illness, disability or who are just finding parenting a struggle. They provide non-judgemental practical and emotional support and help build the family’s confidence and ability to cope. Home-Start runs more services and has more volunteers supporting more families than any other family support charity in the UK.

Our Vision

Home-Start Northampton cares about families.  We provide quality voluntary support, professionally managed for parents with children under 5. We work in partnership with families to develop confidence, positive relationships with their children and to widen links within the community.
