Bernie Barnes Scheme
Manager

Bernie
became Scheme Manager for Home-Start Northampton in 1997. Her role is to work
closely with the Board of Trustees, staff and volunteers to ensure that
our scheme maintains a high standard of practice in supporting both families and
volunteers. She also liaises with other agencies serving the community,
contributing to local policy and planning forums which are relevant to the work
of Home-Start in supporting local families with young children. Together with
Rose, she recruits volunteers and runs the Preparation Courses so that they are
ready to meet the families that have asked for help. Bernie can always find the
time to listen to you and to offer encouragement.
Rose Stewart
Organiser

Rose started to work for Home-start Northampton in September 2005. As an
Organiser she works along side Bernie visiting families who are referred to
Home-Start to talk to them about the service and to see how they would like to
be supported. Once a volunteer has completed the Prep Course Rose helps to
match a family with a volunteer so that they both can have a positive
experience. Prior to working for Home-Start Rose worked with homeless
teenagers. She sees Home-start at the other end of the scale, hopefully
providing parents with support at an early stage, helping to prevent
estrangement at a later date.
Helen Montgomery
Administrator
Helen works alongside Bernie, Rose
and the Board of Trustees to keep the administrative side of
the Scheme ticking over. She is the first point of contact for callers
to the office and maintains our record-keeping systems. Helen compiles the volunteers’ newsletters and finds this
a very enjoyable aspect of her work.
