We’ve witnessed so much amazing support within our local community over the past few weeks. We would like to extend a massive THANK YOU to our volunteers for all that they are doing to support families through these challenging times.
Fortunately, the staff, volunteers and trustees at Home-Start Northampton are well and we have had no reported cases of the coronavirus at this time. However, in light of recent government guidance and advice from @Home-Start UK, we have taken the difficult but necessary decision to change the way in which we support our families.
Until further notice, our volunteers and staff will not be making home visits or attending face to face meetings. Our co-ordinators are in the process of contacting supported families to discuss in more detail. We will continue to provide support to you and your families over the telephone until home-visiting can resume again.
If you do need to get in touch with us you can call us on the office number 01604 627692. Please leave us a message and your contact number if we don’t answer.
We would like to reassure you that we will continue to do the best we can for you and your families over the coming weeks.
Please look after yourselves and those around you.
If you are concerned about yourself or any of your family, the most up to date COVID-19 guidance can be found at https://www.gov.uk/government/topical-events/coronavirus-covid-19-uk-government-response
We are delighted to announce that rugby legend Paul Grayson and his wife Emma are to become new Patrons for Home-Start Northampton.
Home-Start Northampton has been working in the town for over 35 years. We are a voluntary organisation committed to promoting the welfare of families with at least one child under five years of age. Volunteers offer regular support, friendship and practical help to families under stress, in their own homes, helping to prevent family crisis and breakdown. Our support is informal, friendly and confidential. Home-Start supports parents to grow in confidence, strengthen their relationships with their children and widen their links within the local community.
Paul and Emma have three children, James and twins Joel and Ethan, and know the work that raising three children brings, especially with twins!
During his playing career Paul won the Heineken Cup with Northampton Saints, was a member of the victorious British & Irish Lions squad in 1997 and a World Cup winner with England in 2003. After retiring as a player, Paul spent some years in management at Northampton Saints and now works in the media.
Paul and Emma said “As parents of three boys including twins, we are well aware of the increased workload that a multiple birth brings and know how important an extra pair of hands and a listening ear can be at these times. We learned about the valuable work Home-Start does in Northampton through friends and felt that this fitted our ethos. As such we are delighted to become patrons of this charity and look forward to helping generate a greater awareness and raise much needed funds required to provide this valuable service in Northampton”.
We would love you to be part of the Home-Start Northampton team this year for the Northampton Half Marathon or Northampton Size 6 and help us to raise much needed funds for our charity.
We have several free places available, all we ask is that you pledge to raise sponsorship of at least £100 for the half marathon or £75 for the Size 6 race. This money will go towards making sure that we are able to continue providing much needed support to vulnerable families in Northampton.
We promise that we will support you all the way and that the Home-Start team will be there on the day to cheer you on and to welcome you across the finish line with refreshments, treats and a goody bag.
If you are interested, or would like more information please contact the office on 01604 627692 or email email@example.com.
Another great year of support from DASA Barclaycard Head Office, with £6,690 raised and more to come in from their cake sale on Wednesday. We can’t thank them enough for all their hard work. Great team work THANK YOU!
Thank you so very much to The Chocolate Elf-Northamptonshire for their very kind donation. Our volunteers are very busy delivering advent calendars to all of our supported families who are so grateful for their gifts.
We recently attended the University of Northampton and Voluntary Impact Northamptonshire volunteer fayre. Thank you to everyone that came to see us at our stall, we really enjoyed meeting and talking with you.
On Sunday 29th September 2019 we had our first experience as charity partners with the Northampton Half Marathon and what an experience it was! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We made sure to make lots of noise at our cheer zone and were able to offer the runnners sweeties and orange segments as they ran past – thanks to Morrisons for providing the goodies. We also enjoyed chatting with visitors to our stand at the finishers village.
Drumroll please for our seven runners. Dan, Gary, Kelly, Kerrie, Liz, Nicola and Sam – you guys amazed us with your dedication. Thank you so much for choosing to raise funds for us. We hope that you’re not too sore!
We must also thank Espina Chiropractic Clinic, Yoga and Essential Wellness with Rachel, York Cottage Spa and Morrison’s Kettering Road for helping us provide goody bags for our runners.
Last, but not least, thank you VERY much to ISP Group for designing and providing us with our very own running t shirts at very short notice!
We’re thrilled to welcome a new team of volunteers to Home-Start Northampton. This lovely lot, pictured with the Chair of our Trustee Board, have recently finished the volunteer prep course and are excited about helping local families.
Please get in touch if volunteering for Home-Start interests you. We will have a volunteer preparation course starting in the autumn.
