Our thanks go to Dulux Decorator Centre Northampton Brackmills who last week hosted some of our families on a decorating training course.
The paint specialists, which recently opened a new store in the Brackmills area, donated £500 worth of vouchers to us in February, these have since been distributed to help 8 local families to help decorate childrens’ bedrooms.
The store, managed by Daryl Wilder, welcomed our families for a 4 hour course hosted on site at the Dulux Decorator Centre Northampton on Saddleback Road.
The training course, which was led by Chris Wingrove, Skills Development Consultant from Dulux Academy, covered a range of skills including room preparation, decorating tools, application including painting with rollers and brushes and colour theory in which attendants were given advice on which colours work best on different surfaces.
Thank you so much, everyone absolutely loved it and went away enthusiastic to put what they had learnt in to practice. Great Work Dulux
Thank you so much to Dulux for the vouchers you have given us to pass on to our families. Here is another happy family getting paint to decorate the children’s’ bedrooms.
The green tokens from Waitrose Kingsthorpe raised a huge £268 for the month of March.
Thank you to everyone who has chosen to support us and thank you to Waitrose Kingsthorpe for nominating our charity. This will help us support much needed families in Northampton.
We are delighted to welcome another group of volunteers to Home-Start Northampton.
Our new additions finished their preparation course last week and our trustees, Jenny and Angela, were on hand to present their well deserved certificates. Welcome to the team!
Thank you to Amazon Daventry for their very generous donation towards our volunteer training and support programme.
Volunteers are at the core of what we do, visiting families in their own homes weekly to provide friendship and support when and where needed, so it’s important that they are well looked after.
A huge THANK YOU to DASA at Barclaycard Northampton who have supported Home-Start Northampton throughout the year. They have raised an incredible amount of money …. In excess of £7,000. A special thank you must go to Andy Wood who has been a great support to our charity. Our Scheme Manager Bernie Barnes and PR Trustee Angela Draper went to receive the cheque just before Christmas which was presented by Marc Jagger Head of DASA – BPS. They were also invited to judge the department gingerbread house decorating competition which proved a difficult task as you can see by the photos! The teams were having great fun and a lot of competitive spirit was shown! The team kindly donated more money and the houses were donated to some of our families after the competition.
On a cold Sunday morning in October, Nicola Harris set off on yet another half marathon in Rugby through the disused Great Central railway and the closed town and country roads of Britain’s railway centre, this is a half marathon she didn’t want to miss. Not only for the beautiful scenery but this time she was doing it for Home-Start Northampton. Nicola decided that she could raise money for a worthwhile charity whilst doing something she really enjoys. She asked friends and family to guess home many steps it would take her to run the 13 miles. Her total was 20,538 in a great time of 1 hour 59.13 seconds. Thank You Nicola, we really appreciate your support.
Our parents had another lovely morning in the kitchens at Northampton College with First for Wellbeing. A big thank you to everyone that helped!
We would like to say a huge thank you to Dulux, who have donated £500 of vouchers for our families.
