We held a very successful event at Dunelm on Tuesday 3rd April 2018. Our aim was to recruit home-visiting volunteers.
Our appreciation and thanks go to the trustees and volunteers who ran the stand on the day.
In early April we held our first Cookery Workshop which was attended by some of our parents and older children. During the workshop our parents learnt about budgeting, smarter shopping and healthy eating. They then went on to prepare a meal of chicken nugget wraps with potato wedges and salad. The older children had a workshop of their own and prepared some delicious and healthy fruit kebabs for desert.
We were happy to send our families off with aprons, a kit bag of utensils and ingredients and recipe cards.
The day was a great success and our sincere thanks go to Northampton College, First for Wellbeing CIC Ltd and British Pepper And Spice for their help and support in running the workshop. Our thanks also go to the volunteers that came along and helped out with a crèche for the younger children.
We have a further 3 workshops planned over the year.
We are proud to announce that we now have three additional accredited Mental Health First Aiders on our team, making a total of four – which is fantastic news!
We would like to thank Blue Lobster Therapy Ltd for the fantastic and professionally run training course. We are sure that it will support our work helping vulnerable families in Northampton.
We would like to say a HUGE thank you to Dunelm for their generous donation of yet more quilts. Our families will be delighted to receive these. We really appreciate the help that Dunelm are giving us!
The local branch of a family support charity has received a £2,000 donation from Amazon.
Staff and volunteers at Home-Start in Northampton received the special delivery as part of Amazon’s local community support programme.
Home-Start works with vulnerable families across Northampton, providing practical aid and emotional support through a series of initiatives including dedicated volunteers and a 1:1 intensive programme of support.
To mark the donation, which will go towards funding further training for volunteers, members of Amazon’s Daventry team visited Home-Start’s Northampton offices. During the visit, the Amazon team learned more about the work that Home-Start carries out in the local community.
Speaking on the donation, Amazon Daventry Site Leader, Victor Pulido, said: “Home-Start is a wonderful organisation which carries out vital work in our community. We’re delighted to be able to support them.”
Bernie Barnes, Scheme Manager at Home-Start Northampton, added: “We’re incredibly grateful to everyone at Amazon for supporting us with this donation. It’s support such as this which enables us to continue working hard for vulnerable families in our community, supporting those who need it most.”
The ongoing support of Home-Start forms part of the ‘Amazon in The Community’ programme whereby the company supports the communities around its operating locations across the UK.
