Mums less lonely thanks to Home-Start

The Government Loneliness Fund has enabled Home-Start to reach over 1000 mothers experiencing loneliness and isolation during lockdown.
"Without Home-Start I’d be lonely. I have literally no other sources of support. The weekly calls make me feel valued and reassures me that I’m doing the right thing. Home-Start have told me they will be there to support me when the new baby arrives. We are so excited about the new baby. It will mark a new beginning for us as a family."![]()

Chloe has two young sons and her third child is due later this year. But as a single parent, with the absence of family support (sadly her lovely dad died of Covid at the start of the pandemic) she has experienced real loneliness, especially during the pandemic.![]()

Her #HomeStartVolunteer Tracey and co-ordinator from Home Start Host have checked in with her regularly. Chloe says "It’s really nice to have someone to talk to, especially on my down days. She tells us: "Home-Start has been my support ever since I was referred to them when I had postnatal depression with my first baby. My volunteer is a single parent herself and knows what I’m going through. She often sends me links to websites where I can find good advice on parenting or house work. I worry about the children and how lockdown has affected them, so it’s good to get ideas on how I can keep them entertained".![]()

And adds “Tracey gave me a gift for Mother’s Day. I was so touched. It was nice to feel part of Mother’s Day. Without Tracey the day would have been no different to any other day".![]()
